Reviews
Kauai Kookie was a pleasant surprise. I initially went in to look for shortbread treats to bring back to the mainland. I was a little underwhelmed by the packaged cookies, but very attracted to the fresh baked goods. Haupia ube mac nut pie - sweeter yet held its own against my favorite slice of one of my favorite desserts. Banana bread - very tasty, should have gotten more! They had an extensive take out menu and based on the baked goods, I would give that a try as well in the future.
Kauai Kookie is a great casual spot for Hawaiian fare from breakfast to dinner. You'll find classic dishes as well as sold packaged treats. I had a breakfast burrito that was enjoyable and good way to start the morning. Service was nice and caring. Small parking lot out front.
We stopped by Kauai Kookie Bakery & Kitchen on the way to Hanapepe, and it was a delightful experience. My husband ordered the beef lasagna and fell in love with it. I'm obsessed with the ube mochi and couldn't resist buying tons of cookies as souvenirs. A considerable hack: you can get their cookies at Costco, too! Close to Poipu Beach and on the way to Waimea Canyon.
I had the best French toast of my life here. It was so good you didn't need to put any syrup on it. Remember you're in Hawaii and the service is chill. It probably took a good 15-20 minutes to get it. The Portuguese sausage was very tasty too.
Fun shop to visit, and Sunday lunch was tasty here! This place is famous for its cookies (which are sold around the island, including at Lihui Costco) and the best selection is right here. For lunch I enjoyed a local dish, Fried Saliman Noodles. I like stir fries, and this had many delicious ingredients, including eggs, green onion, bacon, and SPAM. (Saimin soup is a staple of Hawaii, and this dish is the same, just without the broth.) Order and pick up at the counter, quick service. I enjoyed the casual comfort, and the enticing merchandise.
